Spicy apple crumble
A nice crunchy bite, delicious with any other fruit of choice.

Serves 4 – 6

Base
385 g can apples
80 ml (⅓ cup) fresh orange or lemon juice
45 ml (3 Tbsp) orange marmelade or any fruit jam
10 ml (2 tsp) ground cinnamon
3 ml (½ tsp) ground ginger
3 ml (½ tsp) ground nutmeg
60 ml (¼ cup) seedless raisins

Topping
80 ml (⅓ cup) rolled oats
80 ml (⅓ cup) cake flour
80 ml (⅓ cup) light brown sugar
80 g butter or margarine
30 g almonds, coarsely chopped (optional)

1. Base: Mix all the ingredients together and place in a medium ovenproof dish.
2. Topping: Mix the dry ingredients together. Rub the butter in and sprinkle over the base.
3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30 minutes or until goldenbrown in colour. Serve with custard or whipped cream if preferred.
